Friendcation IN SLOVENIA
I went on my first friend-vacation last year, and it was one of the first times that I had travelled without my family or my partner. I went with my five very close friends from university, fellow geography students and flat-mates. We knew we could live together, but travelling together was going to be the ultimate test of our friendship.
After much encouragement (more like begging), we decided to go to Slovenia - my favorite country in Europe. I knew that my friends would love it as much as I did, and it suited our budget-friendly, geography-loving needs!
We broke up our trip into two, staying in the capital city (Ljubljana) for half and in the countryside near Bled for the other. This way, we got a the perfect balance between the urban and rural, whilst being surrounded by those incredible Julian Mountains!
We hired a car so that we could have more freedom, travel around the country (Slovenia is quite small which was perfect) even taking a road trip down to the coast of Piran and into Trieste, Italy!
No holiday is complete without some hair-raising, team-building activities, so we took the plunge and went white water rafting! We had to choose a calmer river (The Soca river is the best if you ever decide to go!) as it was closer. It was still a lot of fun! We had a lovely guide who made us run around the raft, balance on the sides and try our hands at steering… which meant going round in circles. No matter how much effort you are willing to put in, this was by far one of my favourite things to do in Slovenia!
The most heart-warming moments together was one of our last nights in Bled, where we hunted for fireflies, watched lightning break out in the distance and laid in the road to stargaze. Slovenia was beyond our expectations, however, I think it is safe to say that it was the bond we had as friends that made it one of the best holidays I have had.

Thank you MichelleEdKeiranSammyandJosh for putting up with my bossy tour-guide attitude, for not letting the stress get in the way of our friendship and for making my memories of Slovenia even better. When is our next trip??
